Your Role

As Site Engineer, you will play a key technical and supervisory role on-site. Typical duties include:

  • Acting as the main technical adviser on site for subcontractors, operatives and craftspeople. 
  • Setting out, levelling and surveying the site according to contract drawings and design plans. 
  • Checking plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy, and ensuring that all work and materials comply with specifications. 
  • Supervising subcontractors and site operatives; managing day-to-day site labour and subcontractor activity. 
  • Liaising with site management, subcontractors, design teams, and ensuring effective communication across project team.
  • Coordinating procurement of materials, ensuring adequate supply, and assisting with resource planning. Producing and maintaining site documentation: site diaries, as-built records, quality assurance and inspection reports.
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental regulations at all times. 
  • Helping to resolve technical issues and unexpected problems promptly to keep the project on track.

Person Specification / Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience as a Site Engineer (or equivalent) on medium to large-scale construction projects, ideally industrial, structural steel or RC-frame works. 
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings / specifications and setting out works accordingly. 
  • Strong knowledge of site engineering practices, health & safety legislation, quality control. 
  • Good communication and organisational skills; ability to liaise effectively with subcontractors, site management, clients and design teams.
  • Ability to work hands-on on site and maintain accurate records and documentation.
  • Use of own kit (survey equipment / “one-man kit”) would be an advantage. (We can discuss if this is provided, depending on circumstances.)
  • Valid UK driving licence preferred (or ability to commute reliably to Middlewich).
