The Role:
As a Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for the financial and contractual management of construction projects from pre-contract through to final account. You will work closely with project teams, subcontractors, and clients to ensure projects are commercially successful and delivered within budget.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare cost estimates, tender returns, and contract documentation.
- Carry out valuations and manage variations and change control.
- Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and cost reports.
- Negotiate and manage subcontractor packages.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with site teams and clients.
- Manage interim payments and final accounts.
- Ensure compliance with contracts and commercial procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and financial reporting abilities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and quantity surveying software.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Relevant degree or professional qualification in Quantity Surveying (or similar).
Desirable:
- Experience across a range of project types (commercial, residential, public sector).
- Professional membership (RICS or similar) preferred but not essential.
