What a privilege it was to host and facilitate the launch of the North West Social Value Alliance alongside an incredible group of social value leaders and experts.
We are so often focused on doing the work that we can that we forget to pause and reflect on what will truly drive the next level of impact—and just as importantly, what we need for our own growth and wellbeing. Throughout the morning we talked openly about what a successful alliance actually looks like in practice. These were just some of the standout themes in a morning full of insight, collaboration, and inspiration.
- Sharing and simplifying: Let’s support each other with practical tools, pass on useful contacts, and make it easier for everyone (especially our supply chain) to get involved in social value.
- Putting people first: We're focused on helping individuals access long-term, life-changing opportunities. But in an industry defined by short-term projects and constant change, how can we create sustainable employment — together?
- Working as a collective: How can we learn from one another, even as competitors or businesses with different models? Reversed mentoring, sharing best practices, and specialist breakout groups are just some of the ways we can grow together.
- Getting Buy in from the top: 'Bring your director to work day' to bridge the gap between leadership and frontline delivery. By seeing social value in action, senior leaders can better understand the impact of their decisions — and become stronger champions for change.
Now with short, mid, and long-term goals set, we’re not just talking — we’re building.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up in such a big way — and especially to my incredible We Are Footprint wing women, Pippa Holland, Narina B., and Jessica Johnson, who made the day happen. Couldn’t have done it without you
