Inspiring the Next Generation: Educational Engagement Across the Construction Sector
At We Are Footprint, we’re passionate about helping young people discover meaningful career pathways within construction. Through our education engagement programmes, we collaborate with schools, colleges, and training providers to deliver hands-on experiences, inspiring workshops, and employability support that connect the classroom to real-world opportunities.
Over the past year, our team has delivered a series of impactful sessions designed to raise aspirations, develop confidence, and equip students with the knowledge and skills to take their next steps.

NEET Placement Opportunity
Our team have supported a 19 people not in education, employment, or training by securing a short-term placement in design coordination. Through mentorship and practical experience, the participants developed professional confidence and technical understanding — leading to progression into a permanent role within the built environment sector.
Careers Talks and Assemblies
Our team has delivered multiple careers assemblies introducing construction as a stable, growth focused, inclusive, and rewarding industry.
Sessions explored routes into the sector — from apprenticeships and site-based roles to professional careers in design, planning, and management — while breaking down stereotypes and highlighting earning potential and progression opportunities.

Work Experience Placements
We facilitate, for our clients, week-long site placements for secondary and post-16 students, giving them hands-on exposure to live construction environments.
Participants typically shadow project and site management teams, observe day-to-day coordination, and take part in supervised site activities — gaining valuable insight into teamwork, safety, and problem-solving in practice.

Women in Construction Workshop
We deliver dedicated workshops for female learners exploring trade and technical pathways. Activities include mock interviews, CV guidance, and an interactive Q&A with female industry professionals.
The session encouraged participants to explore diverse career options in areas such as bricklaying, joinery, and multi-skills, while challenging traditional gender perceptions in the industry.
Our Impact
hrough targeted engagement across schools, colleges, and community partners, We Are Footprint continues to help young people develop key employability skills and gain direct insight into careers within construction.
By connecting education with industry, we’re helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable future workforce — one opportunity at a time.
Mock Interviews
We have supported Year 10/11 students in developing essential employability skills through structured mock interviews. Each student experienced a simulated interview environment, received personalised feedback, and gained a better understanding of how to make a positive first impression.
These sessions focused on communication, confidence-building, and understanding what employers look for during the recruitment process.
