On 2nd December, our Social Value team including Pippa Holland Holland We Are Footprint Together Housing Group Ben Stafford NewGround delivered a range of activities for school pupils at Shadsworth Junior School and St Anthony’s Primary School in Blackburn.
A school assembly took place to explain different types of careers in construction followed by group workshops which included drawing, costing and building structures for their school playground. There was a high proportion of SEN pupils who all got involved. Our planned activity was well received by students and teachers, even the therapy dog came to look at what was going on.
A great way to bring to life opportunities in construction and explain how local Shadsworth communities are improving with the addition of brand new homes delivered by our Housing Partnerships team. Headteacher Heather McGowan said: We were delighted to welcome visitors from Together Housing and Seddon Construction to our Year 5 and Year 6 classes, where they delivered an inspiring and informative workshop on local housing developments.
They shared the full planning, building and costings process in a way that was accessible, engaging and wonderfully educational.
