National Careers Week: Engaging the Next Generation of Construction Talent
As part of National Careers Week, we visited the Middleton Campus at Hopwood Hall College to speak with around 40 Construction, Joinery, Plumbing and Electrical students about careers in the construction industry. We shared insights into different pathways into construction, discussed the wide range of roles available across the industry, and ran a Careers in Construction quiz to get everyone involved.
A big thank you to Hannah Beaty for inviting us to the college. We were also joined by Chris Coward AREC, our Account Manager at We Are Footprint, who delivered a Q&A session. We put together a series of questions for Chris around what employers look for when hiring young people, how to make a CV stand out, common mistakes when applying for jobs, and roles currently in high demand within the industry.
Chris also shared his own journey and spoke about the importance of being adaptable, confident and approachable when starting out.It was fantastic to receive such positive feedback from the college:
“Support from industry professionals like you is vital in helping learners make informed and confident decisions about their future.”We look forward to continuing to support the next generation entering the construction industry.
